(Left to Right) - James Wise - Drums, Jackson Gillatt - Bass, Alex Kot - Guitar, Dan Peterson - Vocals
Born and raised in Calgary, the current SUBSUME lineup has been together for 5 Years. Collaborative composing keeps this band on their toes. "We need to fight about it a little. All the songs we like the most are the ones we've fought over." Drawing inspiration from Tool, Black Sabbath, Porcupine Tree and Mastadon (to name a few), their current focus is recording and releasing their second full-length album in 2019.
"We fit in a weird space musically. Not quite heavy enough for Metal, but we're too heavy for the average kind of music. We, 100% do it for ourselves and you can smell that passion a mile away. There's always someone in search of a band that you just can't get enough of and that's what we really want to create with this band."
"You've got to love yourself as much as you love your other favorite bands, and love what you do. That's what it's all about. That's what the driving force is."
Their creative space consists of an immaculate Ambicoic ceiling featuring an array of individually hand painted Styrofoam blocks. The band states that this aides with diffusion, sound-proofing and acoustic treatment, which is perfect for a smaller space. Influenced by Calgary Audio Engineer, Jess Charlton, the aesthetic of this space supports and fuels the imaginativeness that is SUBSUME.
